Anxiety – On The Verge Of Escalating Asperger’s Symptoms

At times, getting anxious is normal. In fact, if an individual never faces a state of anxiety, then there is something wrong with the biological progression of his body.

Anxiety is faced as a result of being phobic or sensitive to some specific stimuli, but when these sensitivities grow to an abnormal extent, just like in the case of kids thwarted under the influence of Asperger’s, things no longer stay good for the individual. If the condition of being anxious prolongs, then the effected person might face an emotional breakdown, cutting him (temporarily) off from the realistic happenings.

Even though anxiety is the prime stakeholder when we talk about the consequences of Aspergers syndrome, but there are some other aspects as well, in fact, some other disorders. Following are three of many disorders that are either co-factors of mainstream anxiety, cause a severe episode of anxiety or in most of the cases, yet another outcome of anxiety.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Often, these children find themselves trapped inside their obsessions. Now apparently, obsessions should not explicitly haunt an individual. But every obsession has an array of dimensions and in this disease, the very part of an obsession that an individual strives to avoid hallucinates him now and then.

Sometimes, these haunting obsessions could harm the environment and surroundings of an individual, but quite often, particularly for an Asperger’s affectee, these thoughts are pretty much related to cleanliness, committing mistakes, bullying, etc.

It is important to understand that this disorder has two parts. The first part, obsession, has just been discussed above but the word ‘compulsive’ refers to a recurrence of one or more thoughts that might haunt the individual.

Most of the parents try to cover up their kid’s weakness by saying that he is quite interested in a certain thing or activity and that is the source of getting haunted. However, these ‘mere’ responses never go unnoticed in a clinical trial.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Trauma sabotages personal as well as the social life of an individual. We often imply that once the affected person has come out of trauma, he is barred from all sorts of complications, but for most of the people, especially for the ones effected by Asperger’s, it is just a beginning because they are sheer over thinkers and it makes their problems worse.

Trauma is a very intense and unpleasant experience of an individual’s life. When, even after the symptoms, he cannot stop thinking about what had happened during that troubling phase, we call the condition as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

For instance, if someone does not succeed in love and his girlfriend leaves him, he might feel the stress throughout his life, and that is just awful!

Even though a targeted medication is always beneficial in these cases but if small chunks of psychotherapy are also involved, then the results could be pivotal.

Social Anxiety Disorder

When you are aware of your weaknesses, you get overcautious about them in public. The case is quite rough with people, particularly the teenagers, who are caught up in the web of Asperger’s syndrome.
They know that they lack in specific domains and the people would never leave a chance to ridiculing their discrepancies.

As a result, they get overcautious about it and stop being ‘normal.’ It pushes them into the catastrophic corner of social anxiety.

It is more of a social phobia than a proper disease or disorder. The individual tends to isolate from the mainstream population. That is why the treatment is not just restricted to medicines, and a great deal of discussion is required to change an individual’s state of mind and enable him to embrace the World.

Particular emphasis must be given on encouraging such individuals to grow and nurture regardless of what others think about their personalities.

In the case of Asperger’s syndrome, anxiety is mainly related to social factors. Therefore, if an individual wants to get rid of it, he should probably jump into the pool. When he would undergo an array of anxiety-provoking situations and beat them as well, there won’t be any chance of getting under the pressure again.
